Why Meridian Crane

What Shapes the Way We Teach

Principles, Not Products

No fund picks, no product placements. Every module is built around transferable frameworks that apply regardless of which broker or platform a participant uses.

Designed for Hong Kong Investors

Content is shaped around the realities of HKD-denominated portfolios, access to offshore accounts, and the specific currency and market exposures relevant to this city.

Structured for Working Adults

Courses are paced for people with full professional lives — not daily homework, but meaningful progress each week toward a coherent, written plan.

Written Outputs

Participants in longer programmes leave with tangible documents — written exercises, allocation frameworks, and a reviewed portfolio outline — not just notes from lectures.

Honest About Trade-offs

We spend time on what each approach costs, not just what it offers. Understanding trade-offs in currency hedging or rebalancing frequency matters more than memorising definitions.

Behavioural Disciplines Included

Technical allocation knowledge is only part of the challenge. The Full Diversification Workshop addresses the patterns of thinking that either sustain or undermine a long-horizon plan.

Common Questions

Before You Enquire

Who are these courses designed for?
The programmes are built for investors in their forties and fifties — people who have accumulated some capital, hold mainly local assets, and want to think carefully about extending their portfolio internationally. You do not need a finance background, but you should be comfortable reading a spreadsheet and thinking in percentage terms.
Do the courses offer investment advice or product recommendations?
No. Meridian Crane is an educational provider, not a licensed advisory firm. The courses cover principles, frameworks, and analytical approaches. Decisions about specific funds, brokers, or products remain with you. This distinction is important and we are transparent about it from the outset.
How much time do I need each week?
Programmes are designed for roughly three to four hours per week — split between reading, written exercises, and optional live sessions. The pacing respects the demands of a full professional schedule and the work is spread through the week rather than concentrated in one sitting.
Should I take courses in sequence?
Each programme is self-contained. Global Allocation Basics suits those who are relatively new to thinking internationally. Currency & Regional Allocation assumes some familiarity with asset classes but builds from there. The Full Diversification Workshop is most rewarding for participants who have a working understanding of portfolio structure — whether from our earlier courses or prior experience.
What is covered in the tax section of the Full Diversification Workshop?
The module addresses the general considerations Hong Kong residents face when holding assets in offshore accounts — estate duty implications, reporting obligations in other jurisdictions, and broad structures rather than specific tax advice. We clarify what belongs to an accountant or tax lawyer and what a well-informed investor can handle themselves.
How do I pay, and can I pay in instalments?
All fees are quoted in Hong Kong Dollars. Payment details and options, including instalment arrangements for the Full Diversification Workshop, are provided at the time of enrolment. Please include any questions about payment in your initial enquiry.
